Meet Mariah Tendam
LPCC
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. Reaching out for support can be incredibly hard, and I
want you to know that you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy can be a space to slow
down, breathe a little deeper, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels grounded
and safe. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something to
shift, I’m here to walk alongside you at your pace.
I work with adults (18+) navigating developmental and relational trauma, pet loss and
bereavement, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions—like career changes,
breakups, or figuring out what’s next after high school. I bring a grounded, relational
style to therapy and believe in meeting each person exactly where they are. Drawing
from a trauma-informed perspective and my training in the Healing Our Core Issues
(HOCI) model, I support clients in recognizing old relational patterns, rebuilding healthy
boundaries, and gently learning how to advocate for their needs with clarity and self-
compassion. My approach draws from evidence-based practices such as Narrative
Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
(ACT), and Mindfulness. I bring in expressive arts for creative exploration and use
somatic-based techniques to help deepen emotional awareness and strengthen the
mind-body connection.
I am Level 1 trained in the Healing Our Core Issues (HOCI) model, which includes being
DART-informed (Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy). This approach offers
insight into how early life experiences shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others,
and navigate emotional patterns and relationships in our present-day lives. I earned my
Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Kentucky University in
2021 and have experience working in schools, community mental health, hospitals, and
private practice.
Outside of my work, you can usually find me working on embroidery, sewing, or
painting, spending time with loved ones, snuggling my pets, and recharging in nature.
